| For Pity's Sake is a novel written for both children and adults. It's mainly aimed a children in the hope that after reading they will feel compelled to write letters to the addresses given at the back of the book and on this site to ban puppy farming. Sadly adults have tried but failed and this cruel trade continues. Out of sheer frustration the book For Pity's Sake was written in hopes the children would read and care. These dogs lives are in your hands so use them to write, type or email a letter. Your knowledge is their future. |
Man's best friend?
So man's best friend is said to be the dog. You know the one who stands by your side, forgives your mood swings and revels in your company. Yet often horrendous cruelty, neglect and malpractice is used to get the puppy of your dreams. Many know this but still buy the pup they see in the shop or advertised in the paper as they want to save it from pain and misery. They may even boast of their good deed and yet do nothing more.
In the time it takes you to watch a favourite TV programme you could put pen to paper or fingers to key board and write and send letters to try to make a difference and make your voice heard.
Yes the breeders are to blame but most of the puppies found for sale in the papers, pet shops and on the internet are bred commercially and the kennels have been licensed by councils. The pups are collected by approved dealers and travel across the country in often appalling conditions. They are then sold by pet shops which are also licensed by councils or privately through local papers or the internet. To top all that, these pups are registered with the Kennel Club and that includes those with genetic faults.
So who really cares?
